The strength of the TaxBanter business is a direct result of the quality of personnel engaged by it. All of our staff has extensive experience delivering tax courses, as well as a strong background in professional practice. The backgrounds of key personnel are outlined below:

NeilJones

Neil Jones CPA, FTIA Director, Tax Trainer

Neil is a Director of TaxBanter with primary responsibility for delivery of tax training into the Victorian market. Neil has an extensive background in the tax profession including 17 years at the Australian Taxation Office before playing a key role as a Director and lead trainer in the emergence of the highly regarded Webb Martin tax training business. Neil is well known as a presenter of enjoyable and practical tax seminars aimed at the SME market.

Fred Fred Schenck, MTax, B.Bus (Accounting), Senior Tax Trainer

Having been responsible for training and development in his role as partner in a public accounting firm, Fred brings to TaxBanter a practical approach to delivering training sessions. He uses worked examples to explain tax principles in an easy-to-understand manner. Fred’s experience includes working as a Partner in a Melbourne-based public accounting practice that provides extensive tax consulting and compliance services to corporate and high-net-worth individual clients and senior management roles in commerce and industry, including responsibility for financial control and training and development. Fred was also a university lecturer of taxation.

Robyn Robyn Jacobson, BCom, CA, FTIA, Registered Tax Agent, Senior Tax Trainer

Robyn is well-known in tax training circles, having been a professional tax trainer for around 15 years. Robyn has nearly 20 years experience in accounting and tax. She has a public practice background with experience in tax consulting and compliance, audit, superannuation and litigation support. After training for five years with Webb Martin Training, Robyn established her own business, Cyntax Pty Ltd, which carried on a tax training business for six years in the eastern states of Australia. In July 2011, Cyntax merged with TaxBanter. Robyn continues to be a highly regarded tax trainer and now provides tax training through TaxBanter. Robyn specialises in SME issues, in particular, trusts, Division 7A and the small business CGT concessions. Robyn has a lively personality that ensures her sessions are enjoyable, informative and interactive. She makes complex tax laws easier to understand so that staff members at all levels of experience walk away from her sessions with a sound grasp of the technical issues.

brian Brian Kamenetzky, BA, LLB, Senior Tax Trainer

Brian 
has more than 15 years experience as a professional tax trainer. He practised as a barrister in South Africa at the Johannesburg Bar before moving to Australia in 1986. He was formerly the National Tax Education director at Deloitte and at Ernst & Young before joining Webb Martin in 1998. During his time at Webb Martin Training, Brian delivered more than 3,500 sessions Australia wide, in capital cities and regionally to public accountants in practice and commerce. Brian joined Cyntax in 2007, and will make the move to TaxBanter in July 2011. His colourful presentation style, combined with his extensive knowledge of tax and enthusiastic delivery, ensures high-quality sessions. The accounting profession recognises Brian as a leading tax trainer.

Linda Linda Kuttner, B.Com (University of Melbourne), Grad Dip Tax Law (Monash University) Grad Dip FP (Finsia), CPA, FTIA, FFin Tax Agent, Senior Tax Trainer

Linda has worked for more than 30 years in accounting and tax and her experience includes: working in business services at a Big 4 CA practice; running a family manufacturing business; several roles as tax manager and CFO for a number of blue chip listed public companies; and being a tutor/lecturer at various tertiary institutions/universities. Since February 2001, when Linda joined the highly regarded Webb Martin tax training business, Linda has worked as a professional tax trainer.  With her lively personality Linda’s sessions are enjoyable, informative and interactive. She makes complex tax laws easier to understand ensuring that staff members with varying levels of experience leave with a firm understanding of the technical issues. Accordingly Linda is well respected and popular within the industry.

MengLeePic Meng Lee, Tax Trainer

Meng Lee has over 12 years experience in the tax profession. Prior to joining Tax Banter, Meng was a tax trainer with the Institute of Chartered Accountants and Webb Martin. Meng has provided comprehensive tax training to clients ranging from the Australian Taxation Office, the Big 4, large mid-tier accounting firms and small medium accounting practices. He is also a regular presenter for the Institute of Chartered Accountants at their public forums and tax seminars. Meng has also previously worked for CCH Australia where he contributed to well known tax publications such as the Australian Federal Tax Reporter and the Australian Master Tax Guide. Having worked as a tax manager with a mid-tier accounting firm, Meng not only has considerable technical expertise but a practical understanding and approach to teaching tax courses.

Michael Doran, CA, Director

Michael is a Director of TaxBanter with responsibility for strategic direction and marketing of the business. Michael is also a Director of Webb Martin Consulting, one of Australia’s few independent tax consulting practices. Webb Martin Consulting provides accounting practices across Australia with access to independent, practical and affordable tax consulting advice to assist in the resolution of more complex tax issues.

Garry Garry Payne, B.Com, LL.B, FTIA, Solicitor of Supreme Court of NSW, Tax Trainer

Garry has extensive experience in the writing and presentation of taxation material. He honed his skills and built up his practical experience while working at a senior level in the Big 4 CA environment. Garry has also worked for government and various professional bodies, giving him a clear insight into the underlying policy that shapes tax legislation. Garry’s pervious experience includes working as a Senior Lecturer at the Australian School of Taxation (Atax) (UNSW), a Senior Tax Writer at Butterworths/ATP and a Tax Manager at a Big 4 CA practice. Garry has also been the creator and co-author of eight publications, including Australian Tax Handbook, the author of materials developed by the GST Start-Up Assistance Office, a presenter of more than 170 tax seminars for accountants, lawyers and government bodies and has played a lead role in the preparation of reports commissioned by the Board of Taxation and Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

Leanne Saunders, Bsc (Psycology), Dip.FS (Financial Planning), MTax, FTIA, Tax Trainer

Leanne’s diverse background as a specialist tax consultant gives her an understanding of a broad range of client issues and an ability to communicate complex technical concepts in an easy to understand manner. Leanne spent over 10 years with the Big 4 in Sydney before taking a sea change and moving to the Gold Coast. Here she was a Senior Tax Manager and the Training and Development Manager for the Tax Consulting Division of a large second-tier accounting practice for 5 years. As a Tax Trainer she provides training to the Australian Taxation Office, the Big 4, mid tier accounting practices and small practitioners.

Lynne had over 25 years experience in public practice in Chartered Accounting firms before joining the tax training industry. Advising a diverse range of clients in most industries means she has the ideal experience and expertise that allows her to provide relevant and practical examples in her interesting presentations. She has managed clients’ affairs, delivered tax advice and been responsible for staff development and training as a partner in a Sydney CBD Chartered Accounting practice. Before becoming a partner Lynne worked to a senior level in a number of public accounting practices including a Big 4 CA practice, advising in taxation, audit and accounting matters to a diverse range of clients including many family groups and corporate clients covering many industires. Lynne also has professional affiliations at a senior level.

Debbie

Debbie Ghuliani, B.Com (University of Melbourne), CA, FTIA, Tax Trainer

Debbie joined the tax training industry after 13 years in Corporate tax at a Big 4 CA practice. Debbie’s high level of tax consulting experience and lively personality have combined to ensure that client’s receive an informative yet entertaining training session. Debbie has practical experience in dealing with tax issues affecting many industries, particularly manufacturing, telecommunications and resources. Debbie also has significant experience in relation to international tax matters resulting from her 3 year secondment to the M&A division of the London office of the Big 4 CA firm where she worked. Debbie’s experience includes working as a Tax Director (Corporate tax) of a Big 4 CA practice (based in both Melbourne and London) and a Secondment (1 year) as Tax Manager to an Australian subsidiary of a global listed client of a Big 4 practice. Debbie is also a contributing writer to Taxpayers Australia Inc and has lectured in tax at Kaplan Business School.

VeronicaDoody

Veronica Doody, BBS (Accounting), LLB, Dip Ed, CPA, CA, Tax Trainer

Veronica has 30 years of specialist tax experience dealing in a wide range of income tax and indirect tax matters. She has a vast range of experience from tax training, consulting and business services as well as senior management and technical roles with the ATO. Her specialist tax training includes in house training to small, medium and Big 4 firms, as well as direct consulting and business advice, which has enhanced both her technical knowledge and practical experience. She has also been a regular presenter in public conferences.
