Linda Barr
Training Operations Manager

Linda joined the workforce in 2006 as a conveyancer and moved on to a variety of roles including English conversation instructor, service specialist and publishing assistant before finally starting with TaxBanter in 2016. She brings multitasking skills and an eye for detail in finalising materials written by the content team, ensuring materials are provided for each training session and liaising with venues to confirm events.

Claire Barry
Administrative Assistant

Claire began working with Webb Martin Training in 2000 as a junior Administration Assistant in the production team. As the company grew, experiencing mergers and acquisitions, she further developed her skills are her role evolved under the banners of Webb Martin Training, Tribeca and Kaplan Professional. After three years in a similar administrative role with Practising Tax and after starting her family, Claire joined the TaxBanter team in 2014.

Helen Cosby
Senior Tax Writer

Helen began her career in general legal practice, before spending close to 20 years in the tax division of a ‘big four’ accounting firm. She has extensive experience in both client consulting and providing dedicated training and tax technical support to tax practitioners. Helen brings a wealth of experience in writing about tax, and a passion for tax learning and development to the TaxBanter writing team.

Joe Edgley
Marketing Manager

Hailing from the great southern waters of Tasmania, Joe began his career in marketing in 2012 working in the engineering equipment industry. After gaining further experience in various marketing roles in the education and insurance industries, Joe joined TaxBanter as the marketing manager in 2017.

Joe oversees the day-to-day running of marketing activities at TaxBanter, and also advises on strategic marketing direction to enable TaxBanter to continue growing as a leader in professional tax training and specialist training services.

Elizabeth Gaarenstroom
Administrative Assistant

Elizabeth began her working career in 1974 at National Mutual in new business/proposals. In January 1976, Elizabeth joined the Freight Branch at the State Transport Authority (aka Victorian Railways) where her duties were varied and centered around the employees: medical condition, payroll and promotions. After taking some time away from the workforce to start her family, Elizabeth brought her administrative skills to Webb Martin as receptionist in 2005 and then similarly to Cyntax in 2008. Elizabeth joined the TaxBanter team in 2011 in her current role following Cyntax’s acquisition by TaxBanter.

Steve Griffiths
Content & IT Manager

After beginning at Kaplan in 2008, Steve joined the TaxBanter team when Kaplan’s tax training arm was acquired in 2010. His role continued its evolution to encompass various facets of development and implementation of training products and technology. Steve brings the benefits of a broad work history to TaxBanter, from database programming and royalties management, to a raft of technical projects with NAB. Steve has also had the opportunity to bring some of his more creative skills to TaxBanter (such as video editing and voice over) as part of the business’ ongoing development of new training products.

Vesna Iskra
Senior Tax Technical Writer

Vesna has over 30 years’ experience in the tax and accounting industry working for, at various times, one of the ‘big four’ accounting firms, a second tier firm and a small accounting firm. She therefore has acquired extensive experience in tax and accounting matters relevant to both the larger corporate clients and the no less complex matters encountered by smaller companies and trusts. She also worked as a writer for Webb Martin in the mid-1990s. Vesna’s qualifications include:
• Bachelor of Economics
• Higher Diploma of Teaching
• Bachelor of Laws
• Master of Laws
• Gradate Diploma in Legal Practice
• Master of Taxation Studies
She is a Chartered Accountant, a Chartered Tax Adviser and an Australian Lawyer admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria.

Lacey Jarvis
Marketing Specialist

Lacey has recently joined the team in 2018 and has a variety of experience in the marketing and communications industry, including campaign management, account management, copywriting, content creation, and project management. She also has extensive experience from administrative roles she has held earlier in her career in the Finance industry.

Lacey received her Bachelor of Science in Advertising from Kent State University in 2012. She moved to Melbourne from Charlotte, North Carolina in January 2017 and has greatly enjoyed being part of the TaxBanter team, currently contributing to a variety of projects, along with maintaining all marketing operations on a daily basis.

Elizabeth Micallef
Accounts Administrator

Liz began her working experience at the age of 16 as a junior with the Permanent Building Society of Victoria, being trained in all areas of the business from Receptionist to Teller to Deceased Estates. She survived several mergers and changes throughout the financial sector to end up changing from a Building Society to the original Bank of Melbourne. After 23 years of experience, Liz felt it was time to move on and took up a position at American Express Foreign Exchange as a Customer Service Officer for 4 years.

Liz then moved to the Over-50s Friendly Society as Accountants Assistant, learning all the aspect of the accounts department. In January 2011, Liz joined TaxBanter, who enjoy the benefit of Liz’s experience, skills and knowledge.

Belinda Smith
Training Operations Manager (currently on maternity leave)

After completing VCE in 2004, Belinda began working with Webb Martin Training as an Administration Assistant in the production team. Over the following nine years, Belinda has progressed to the role of Training Operations Manager, and experienced numerous mergers and acquisitions – having worked under the banner of Webb Martin Training, Tribeca, Kaplan professional, and now TaxBanter. Belinda’s role as Training Operations Manager encompasses the day to day management of the production team, producing/managing client training schedules, liaising with current and potential clients as well as the organisation of the public training program, including venue liaison. TaxBanter benefits greatly from Belinda’s unique and valuable experience gained from her role evolving under the perspectives of many banners.

Victoria Stevens
Administrative Assistant

After completing her Music degree in 2014, Victoria taught English as a second language for 1.5 years before her completion of Certificate II in Business Administration, introducing her into the world of adminstration. She was in her first Office Adminstration position for just over a year before starting her position at TaxBanter in 2018.
